To the Nursery

After a few hours of being born, Kaylee started to turn a little blue and was taken to the nursery for some oxygen. She had to stay there because the oxygen level in her blood was not high enough. As a preterm baby her lungs were not fully developed. She also had a little bit of fluid in them. Kaylee needed a few days with the oxygen for her lungs to develop 100%, and for the fluid to be absorbed into the tissue.

Despues de unas horas de nacida, Kaylee empezo a ponerse un poco azul. Asi que la llevaron a cuidados intesivos para darle oxygeno. Como Kaylee y Audrey nacieron antes de 40 semanas es comun que necesiten un poco mas de tiempoy ayuda para desarrollarse completamente. Kaylee se ha tenido que quedar en cuidados intesivos por unos dias para ayudar a que sus pulmones se desarrollen completamente.

Audrey also had to go and stay at the nursery. Her blood sugar was low and she was having a hard time keeping her temperature up. They put an IV on her and she had to stay in a warmer to help her temperature stay up. After a day or two, she stoped digesting her food. The doctor stoped her feedings to let her stomach rest. She is eating again and her feedings are increasing every time.

Audrey tambien tuvo que ser admitida en cuidados intensivos. El nivel de azucar en su sangre estaba un poco bajo y a ella le estaba costando un poco de trabajo mantener su temperatura normal. Asi que le pusieron suero y la pusieron en la incubadora para ayudarla a mantenerse calientita. Unos dias despues, Audrey dejo de digerir su comida. El doctor decidio quitarle la comida para dejar que su estomaguito descansara. Ella ya esta comiendo otra vez y poco a poco le aumentan la cantidad de comida.
